Thanks for your interest in Sharp!
Below are a few details about the position to see if school bus driving is a good fit for you:

HOURS
This position is part-time, Monday to Friday with split shifts that run anywhere between 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM and again from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
On average drivers work for 4-hours per day, although there are some longer routes that go up to 6.5 hours a day. Per week, depending on your assigned route, you would be working approximately 20-30 hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify to be considered for a school bus driver position, you must have a full G-class drivers’ licence, and be at least 21-years old.
Our drivers hold their B-class licence. This licence class qualifies you to drive a passenger vehicle that is 24-passengers or more. (The B-licence also allows you to drive vehicles included in licence classes C, D, E, F and G). Sharp has an in-house training program that, when completed, will upgrade your licensing from a G to a B. The cost of the licensing, materials, and trainer is covered by Sharp.
Other Mandatory Requirements
The Ministry of Transportation requires the below screenings to be completed by the end of your B-licence training. You cannot operate a school vehicle without successfully passing the following:
- Criminal Background Check and a Vulnerable Sector Screening (a background check to be able to work with school children). These can be done at the local or provincial Police station.
- Driver’s Medical Assessment which is a general health assessment. Medicals can be done through your general practitioner, some walk-in clinics, or if you need assistance in finding a medical facility to perform a driver’s medical, our divisions are happy to assist you.
Before Your Interview
For your interview, you will need to provide a copy of a current (within the past 90 days), 3-year, uncertified driver’s abstract. A driver abstract is your official record of your driver history which outlines any demerit points, accidents (over the past 3-years), and licence status.
You can get your drivers abstract online at: https://www.ontario.ca/page/get-driving-record#section-4 or at your local Service Ontario.
